Tool Wall for garage

Postby Fast one » Sun Apr 10, 2016 4:33 pm

This took a while because each holder was specific to the tool it holds but all the work was worth it. I don't have time to open and close drawers on tool boxes, if for example a 1/2" wrench is needed they are all in line under the size label. Inch sizes are in white, metric in gray and Torx in blue. The 1/2" drives are in white, 3/8" in green and 1/4" in yellow.
Here's the finished project without the tools, all the 3d printed parts are mounted on a 3/4" thick maple plywood covered with white formica.

Here are the tools in place, most tools are held in their holder using 1/8" x 1/8" or 5mm x 5mm neodymium cylinder magnets; all the holders are attached to the main board with #6 wood screws.

After two months of use I really like this design, finding the right tool is fast and easy. So far the tape measure has been the most used and no tools have been lost.
