Parametric Lamp made with OpenSCAD

Postby gavin167 » Mon Sep 07, 2015 5:12 pm

Took a month to successfully print, but I designed this lamp in OpenSCAD and printed it with PLA from monoprice. Really happy with how it came out.

I had to tweak my design file in order to get it to print correctly. A lot of back and forth from Cura layer view and the design file. I've found that if I have a layer with a lot of retraction a 'plug' will develop at the entry to the hot end preventing further extrusion. Sometimes the print will recover if there's a chunk of straight extrusion that follows, but sometimes it's plugged up too much at the entry and just continues to grind away at the extruder pinch roll.

I've been having issues with filament plugging up at the entry to the hot end and prints failing because the extruder pinch roll isn't able to push the plug through.

This is a very good post which I really enjoy reading. It is not every day that I have the possibility to see something like this.
