[PRINTABLE] Y Axis Idler Pulley Clamps Distributing Tension

Postby Liquid » Thu Apr 25, 2013 1:05 pm

I noticed some were having issues with the wood flexing a bit which would cause the y axis belts to loosen slightly. So I made these to distribute the tension on the wood and y axis idler pulley bolts. They work great.

They should account for most distances, if its too loose or too tight just measure from the front face of the machine to the far side of the bolt holding the pulleys, and let me know. I will adjust them for you.

To get proper tension, click until slightly snug, manually move your y axis back and forth a few times while watching the belt. Keep clicking tight and manually moving the y axis back and forth until the y axis belts situate themselves towards the top lip of the pulleys.

lol. Heres another shot of both installed.

Print with 100-200 microns
3 loops 1mm walls
10% percent or more infill - Rounded

And they should come out just fine.

Been printing, some new, some Ive printed before, and noticed the machine is almost completely silent now. Esp on long runs with the y axis.

I knew it would potentially help keep the top wood from flexing over time, but had no idea it was going to work so well noise wise. The machine was pretty silent to begin with, now the decibel level has to be minute.

Honestly ours was not off alignment so didn't really notice any specific changes in behavior.

Confirmed it IS quieter although we noticed some "old galleon" going on so need to check the bearings on our X.
