Portable paint booth just dropped.

Time to dust off the air brush.

And you said tomorrow. Good old Prime Amazon ! So I expect to see T-Rex painted tomorrow when I inspect the new new addition? How fast will the airbrush paint dry?

Well in my defense I said "Weds.. but we've been getting things a full day in advanced so wouldn't be surprised if it showed up tues... "

NOT painting the lazard head. I'll print a jasmine one for that, in full scale.

Should be back to printing my own stuff tomorrow.

Airbrush dries pretty quick. We may need to make a drying tree or something? Put it on a carousel with a bit of music. Showcase the pieces while they dry.

LG, are you getting decent business from makexyz or is it from other sources?

No business from MakeXYZ.. our $1/mm probably deters most people honestly.

This booth is actually for MakerFaire use. Rod and I are assisting TAM with their DIY makerspace.
We'll be offering quick courses on how the printer works, what to expect, hopefully get some prints for people to take home.
Beyond that a separate zone will be for finishing and post printing treatments like cleanup, sanding, painting, chem baths (discussion not demonstration), and heat treatments. Also functions like welding parts, repairing bad prints and other mixed media applications that might entice the general public into the dark art of PIY and generally answer some questions and resolve some complaints.

Should be a TON of fun if nothing at all. Really going balls out on the HitMan figure.. was not joking about it being my booth buddy.

LG, have you tested makexyz price wise?

I just input the hitman model and at a setting of just $0.25/cm cubed it charges the customer around $27 something, obviously closer to $60 if its set at $0.50/cm cubed. I would print people hitmen all day long for $27 a piece lol. $0.50/cm cubed if they want it in .05 resolution

$93.97 for the hitman if going with someone who charges $1/cm cubed... ouch

Yeah it's not perfect.

charging based on material gives us very little control over time spent processing files. There should be a "cost to start" base fee or something. Managing 100 orders of separate $1 parts is not worth $100.
We padded based on this understanding people wouldn't have HUGE things as Thingi doesn't offer them as the MakerBot can't make them.

It's not shapeways... but it's not 3 weeks and no file support either. SO.. there's that ; )
