Dry air chamber for spool

Last week the humidity went up and the print quality went down, parts had deletions and no strength. Older posts talk about the need to keep material dry to avoid humidity caused problems. I bought large paint pails for storage of spools but something was needed that would keep the spool in use dry ...

Re: Printed objects keep unfixing from the Printing area

A piece of blue masking tape about 3/4" wide was placed under the bottom extruder fan to reduce airflow, this greatly helped to keep parts attached to the glued glass./Users/edwarddomm/Pictures/iPhoto Library.photolibrary/Masters/2015/05/26/20150526-104136/IMG_2013.JPG

Re: Gluing the build plate down

I used Goop adhesive to rebind the corner of the glass to the aluminum. A small jewelers screwdriver was used to wedge the glass away enough and used a toothpick to put the adhesive in that area. So far so good but I'm going to ask them how to adjust the machine so the support frame is aligned to th...

Re: Gluing the build plate down

Mine did the same thing. Has anyone else had this problem? How can the adhesive be expected to bond the glass to the aluminum when stresses are placed on opposing corners, this bends the aluminum enough so the adhesive fails in the most stressed corner. The corner that failed was where the print hea...

Re: Printed objects keep unfixing from the Printing area

I had the same problem and milled an aluminum holder to place a gage on the extruder to level the glass. The gage measures in 0.0005" ( 0.001mm ) increments and made leveling very accurate, a lot better than using paper shims. The glass is now leveled to within 0.001" at the corners. The g...

Re: Replaced extruder motor, AMAZING difference

There seems to be a lot of friction between the filament spool and it's holder, the filament also drags along the front top edge of the cross support bar over the extruder. I wonder if the Series 1 designers experimented with bearings to reduce this friction.

Ball bearings on filament spool?

Has anyone redesigned the filament spool mount with ball bearings to reduce friction? Has anyone designed a feed roller with ball bearings over the printer head so the filament doesn't drag on the cross bar edge?

Cura to inches

Is there a setting so that Cura always imports an STL file in inches instead of having to change the scale from MM to inches?
