Re: New filaments

From a thread in another forum: "I love the idea of expanding the range of available easy-to-print materials (t-glase has so far been a god-send). I also agree with their rationale that if you're going to have a lot of materials in the marketplace, you need to have a reasonable array of measure...

Not sure that's true, but even if it was, it's false logic (I believe it is affirming the consequent?). There are substances that would dissolve PLA but not human flesh, and this is likely what eeyore is looking for.

Re: I try to answer if you can make money selling 3d designs

Thank you for taking the time to do this! Someone mentioned it in your thread, but I'll reiterate. These results are probably not linearly scalable. The market is finite and easily saturated. Very interesting to read your account.

Re: Translucent + Sun = WTF

VERY interesting! Are those TAM translucent filaments you're talking about? Is it only that orange color you've seen it in? That effect is just looking to be intentionally used. How bad is the degradation of strength/layer bonding? Details, man, details!

Re: Objet30 vs TAM Series 1

In my experience, sometimes it is more trouble than it's worth to clean the support material off an Objet part. We have an entire station of tools, a pressure washer station, and a sodium hydroxide bath. Sometimes I think it's better just to design for FDM and be done with it.

corner for pyros? Personally... I'll deal with tape to not turn my work area into a volatile flash fire ready atmosphere. 200c heat source...open electronics... wooden frame.. residue... Hope you're applying outside or elsewhere at least. I hope you're not fear-mongering on this. I think we've esta...

I work for 3M, I will ask my contact over in the 3D printing group about this. In theory, I agree with turnrock's assessment.

Re: My version of a glass bed with improved leveling

Aquanet? Aquanet Extra Hold Unscented Hairspray. I heard about it many moons ago over at the Makerbot group . When Jetguy made my UTOM, I was interested in removable glass plates so that I could spray them with Aquanet. I does mean that I tweak my leveling a little more frequently, but I never ever...

Re: My version of a glass bed with improved leveling

If your glass bed was removable, I'd say ditch the tape and print onto glass with Aquanet (it is glorious, and the glossy bottom to prints is lovely). Glad to see your prints are coming out well!
